Robert Martin Treharne Obituary (1939

Robert Martin "Bob" Treharne, 76, of South Lake Tahoe, died in early January 2016. He was born to Robert G. Treharne and Bernice B. Stange in 1939, in Chicago, Illinois. After high school he worked as an Aircraft Electrician for Douglas Aircraft Company in Santa Monica, California. Later, he served our country during the Vietnam War as a member of the USAF. After his discharge he worked as a Longshoreman, became an extraordinarily skilled Auto Paint and Body Person, and was even an employee of the Tahoe Daily Tribune for a time. It was, however, as an Antique and Collectible Dealer that he found his true calling: he loved helping people find rare items that they would cherish. He, along with his father, stepmother Charlotte D. Treharne, and younger brother Timothy, became one of the last homesteading families in the Territory of Alaska. In Alaska he became an avid hunter and fisherman, and discovered gold panning and metal detecting--hobbies he enjoyed for the remainder of his life. Bobby, as his family knew him, was a much beloved son and a great big brother to his three younger siblings. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, stepmother, brother, and half-sister Janine Bonar. He is survived by his half-brother Daniel (Georgia) Treharne of Burbank, California; brothers-in-law Ronald and Stanley Bonar, and his uncle Robert Brant, all of South Lake Tahoe. His survivors will miss him deeply for the remainder of their lives. There will be a graveside service on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., at Happy Homestead Cemetery, 1261 Johnson Blvd., in South Lake Tahoe. Robert will be buried with Military Honors.
