October 5, 1925 - January 9, 2020
Betty Jean Morrison peacefully passed away with her daughter at her side on Thursday, January 9, 2020. She was 94. Betty was born October 5, 1925 in Springfield Missouri to Arthur and Verna Bowles. She’s preceded in death by her first husband, Winfred Christian and husband Kenneth Morrison. She is survived by her children Glenda (Jim), Jody and Ray (Joann), as well as 14 grand children, 31 great grandchildren and 28 great-great grandchildren. Betty had a long adventurous life, sharing interesting stories of her childhood and living during the Great Depression. She met her first husband Winfred and gave birth to her daughter, Glenda. She was widowed about a year later when Winfred fell ill. Shortly after being widowed, Winfred’s best friend Kenneth came back from the Army with a promise to take care of Betty and Glenda. They married on November 20, 1943 and had two more children, Rama Jo (Jody) and Ray. Kenneth and Betty were devoted to each other until Kenneth’s death 20 years to the day prior of Betty, on January 9, 2000. Betty loved family and friends and no one ever went home hungry after a visit to her home. She loved doing ceramics, and gardening and had a wonderful abundant orange tree that so many ate from. She was a bit ornery and liked playing funny lil pranks, like putting huge cucumbers in the bed for someone to crawl into or if you had bare feet you may just experience one of her favorite tortures, the toe hold! She was an excellent baker and loved sweets. She made the best German chocolate cake! One of her favorite places on earth was Lake Tahoe! She loved the outside beauty of Tahoe and the inside hobby of playing penny slot machines at Lakeside Inn Casino! She would tend to play two machines at a time and if someone tried to sit and play at one of them, they just may have received a knuckle sandwich. She was blessed to journey with her daughter Glenda and son-in-law Jim on a long trip to retrace her days growing up in Missouri, and Oklahoma and explore family history and lineage. She was definitely feisty but would do anything for her loved ones. She will be dearly missed and forever live in our hearts...
